Looking for a quick, easy way to entertain the kids for a few minutes this winter? These Coffee Filter Snowflakes are the perfect cure for cabin fever!
It’s January and it’s cold. Well, actually it’s not too cold here in the Midwest. We experienced 60 degree temps this past weekend. The kids were able to go outside and run off some energy and breath some fresh air into their lungs. Now, my kids go outside even when it’s in the teens, but the warmer weather kept them outside for hours! It was delightful. The weather was definitely a tease as there is a cold front coming in and the temperature will be back in the 30s by the end of the week with snow. I know some of you reading this are wishing for 30 degree weather. That would feel like a heat wave to all of you, I’m sure. Ha!
Despite the unseasonably warm weather, January is still kind of a “blah” month for us. Christmas is over and we are all looking forward to Spring. The kids were at each other’s throats the other day and I needed to find some form of entertainment fast! Coffee filters to the rescue!
We don’t drink coffee around here, but somehow we have an over abundance of coffee filters! I made the mistake of buying more for a project a while back when I couldn’t find the ones I knew I had. I organized the craft closet and found the missing ones. Now, we have thousands of the boogers. If any of my neighbors are reading this and run out during a blizzard, you know where to go! I will gladly share!
Coffee Filter Snowflakes
All you need for this craft are: coffee filters and scissors. Maybe some string or tape if you are wanting to hang them.
Begin by folding the coffee filter in half, then in half again, and in half one more time.
Now begin cutting. Cut whatever designs you choose in the folds.
That’s it! Now unfold, to reveal your beautiful design!
Super simple and the kids will love seeing how many different design combinations they can make.
Tape them to a window, or attach some string to them and hang to display.
