What is your favorite color? It’s hard for me to pick just one as I really like blue, lime green, and yellow, but yellow is probably by far my favorite color. The girls often ask me what my favorite color is and I always say yellow, then they ask, “why”, and I always reply, because it reminds me of the sun! In fact, Mel is sitting on my lap right now as I am typing this and when she saw what I typed she said, “Of course you like yellow because it is the color of the sun!” They know me quite well! So, when I was trying to come up with a “yellow” craft and sun was the first thing that came to mind, so these adorable Yellow Cupcake Liner Sun shines were born.
Not only does yellow remind me of the sun, but just seeing the color brightens my day. Yellow also reminds me of summer and boy do I love summer!
Yellow Cupcake Liner Sunshine
For this craft you will need: blue construction paper, white cupcake liner, yellow paint(If you are able to find yellow cupcake liners you can use those also, but painting the white ones just added to the fun!), paint brush, yellow buttons, 2 googly eyes, red marker, Elmer’s school glue.
First paint the cupcake liner yellow and allow to dry.
Once the cupcake liner is dry, glue it to the blue construction paper and glue the googly eyes to the cupcake liner.
If you are able to find yellow buttons all by themselves, then congratulations!!!!!;) I could not, so we bought a couple of multi-colored packs. It actually worked out perfectly because I had Jo sort out only the yellow buttons. It was great for color recognition!
Add the buttons around the sun. I added the drops of glue and Jo added the buttons. This is also a great way to work on hand-eye coordination.
Lastly, draw the mouth using the red marker.
Allow the sun to dry then hang to display. Your kids will love seeing their artwork on the walls and the yellow sun will be sure to brighten your day and add a smile to your face!;)
